For today, I'm going to have you watch a BrainPOP video about reading. It will give you lots of tips about ways to improve your reading comprehension. When you are finished watching the video, take the quiz, and see how you do. Then go to your reading Google document, and tell me 3 tips you learned from the video about improving reading comprehension.

Now it's time to take notes on A Long Walk to Water. Remember to do a great job on your summaries. You can use them to take the quiz at the end of the book. :)
Vocabulary
Continue working on your vocabulary log. Remember to choose one of the following choices.
1. You can make your own vocabulary log with paper. Be sure to include the word, definition, a sentences using your word, and a picture of your word.
2. You can create a document that includes all 10 words to share with me. You can type your word, the definition, a sentence using your word, and you can use clipart for the picture of your word.
Have fun learning the next set of words. We will have a quiz on them in a few weeks.

Grammar/Writing

On your Grammar/Writing Google doc, create at least two of your own examples of simple, compound, and complex sentences. I have included an example of what your docement should look like below. (As I'm sure you know, you cannot use my examples or the examples that were in the video.)

Simple Sentences:
1. My cousins and I played outside.
2. Did you study for your spelling test?
Compound Sentences:
1. I visited England for an entire month, but I also went to Paris for a few days.
2. Our alarm clocks never went off, so we are probably going to be late!
Complex Sentences:
1. When you come home, preheat the oven to 350 degrees, please.
2. The party got canceled because of the rain.
*Remember, the words that start dependent clauses are called subordinating conjunctions. Some examples of those are: when, because, although, since, before, after...etc.

Now, it's my understanding that you won't see this course until you've completed the last course, Adventure Peak.
