Today you are going to read a story about the history of cell phones. When you are finished reading the article, answer the following questions. Be sure to use the charts and graphs to help you as well.

https://dynamath.scholastic.com/issues/2017-18/030118/the-story-of-cell-phones.html#710L

1. What was different about the early cell phones and the cell phones we have today?

2. Using the chart, which cell phone weighed the least?

3. Using the chart, which county believes it's really important that they are able to be reached at all times?

4. Using the chart, in what year did approximately 70% of US adults own a smart phone?

5. Using the chart, approximately what percentage of 5th-8th grade students own a cell phone?

Take good notes on today's reading. smiley

Today we're going to do the activity for Mystery Science. I realize that many of you might not have post-it notes, so feel free to do your brainstorming on a regular piece of paper. Once you've finished the activity, post your 3 best ideas to our class Padlet. Make sure to type your name on your post so I know who you are :)

Art

Hi Fourth Grade!

I hope you have been able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful flowers! Were you able to create flower drawings and use your color theory? I enjoyed "considering the pansies" in my artwork. haha

This week we are looking at Pablo Picasso and some of his works. We will create an abstract portrait inspired by Picasso. Please view the video titled, "Introduction to Pablo Picasso" first. You may then move on to the videos titled, " Picasso portrait", Parts 1-4. ( modified April 29)

I hope you enjoy creating a Picasso portrait. He was instrumental in the modern art world. He created the Cubist style of drawing and painting. He created a new way of "seeing" art and allowed other artists to create in their very own style.

Remember to have fun and share your work with me. I love seeing all your creations!

Miss you!
