Reading

Today you are going to read the article "It Takes Guts." It's about the author Raina Telgemeier who wrote the books Smile, Sisters, and Guts. It talks about how she learned to face her fears and how she uses her love for drawing and cartoons to create her books. Be sure to check out the interview at the bottom.

Answer the following questions. Restate the question and use capitalization and punctuation.

1. What inspired Raina Telgemeier to write the story Guts.

2. What important lesson did Raina learn when she was younger that helps her still today?

3. If you could interview Raina, what question would you ask her?

Vocabulary

Continue working on your vocabulary log. Remember to choose one of the following choices.

1. You can make your own vocabulary log with paper. Be sure to include the word, definition, a sentences using your word, and a picture of your word.

2. You can create a document that includes all 10 words to share with me. You can type your word, the definition, a sentence using your word, and you can use clipart for the picture of your word.

Have fun learning the next set of words. We will have a quiz on them in a few weeks.

Today's Word:

laborious- not easy, requiring hard work

Grammar/Writing

Focus on spelling.

Spelling

Pull up your list of words for this week from Spelling City. On your Grammar/Writing Google doc, please write 20 complete sentences. Each sentence should contain at least one of your spelling words, but don't use the same spelling word more than once. If you would rather write 10 sentences, with two different spelling words in each sentence, that could work as well. I have included two examples below. Remember, your spelling test is tomorrow!

Ex. Did you go to preschool?

Ex. The pretest will be a preview of the material we will cover this trimester.
