Reading

Today you are going to read an article about how we can avoided getting fooled by social media tricks.

Read the article and answer the questions in complete sentences with capitalization and punctuation.

*** Please be sure to have your name in the title of your Google Doc where you are answering the questions, and share your answers with me daily. I am having a hard time finding some of your answers to the daily reading questions because your name is not in the title of your doc. Thanks friends!!!

https://sn56.scholastic.com/issues/2019-20/033020/were-you-fooled.html

1. What did people get tricked into believing by social media on February 10th of this year?

2. How was this information false?

3. What does the article say we should do as readers to avoid being tricked?

4. What will you do differently after reading this article.

***Fun fact. Mrs. Lambert got tricked by the broom challenge. laugh I'm learning something new too!

Now it's time for A Long Walk to Water. Don't forget to continue typing your summaries each day and share them with me as well. :)

Vocabulary

Continue working on your vocabulary log. Remember to choose one of the following choices.

1. You can make your own vocabulary log with paper. Be sure to include the word, definition, a sentences using your word, and a picture of your word.

2. You can create a document that includes all 10 words to share with me. You can type your word, the definition, a sentence using your word, and you can use clipart for the picture of your word.

Have fun learning the next set of words. We will have a quiz on them in a few weeks.

Today's Word:

rancid- smelling or tasting unpleasant as a result of being old and stale

Grammar/Writing

Use the research you gathered yesterday to construct a paragraph (or more) about your animal. Remember, you want your paragraph to have strong sentence fluency. We don't want it to sound robotic! I encourage to start your paragraph with a strong opening (a fact, question, a quote, or a short narrative). Then you can move into some of the specific facts about your animal. Try to include strong adjectives and adverbs, and make sure all of your sentences are your own words. Do your best with capitalization and punctuation!

Spelling

Follow the link below to complete your spelling test. Don't speed through it! I don't want you to accidentally mark the wrong answer.

I am also posting this link in the Word Study Google Classroom. Good luck!

Be sure you are practicing your typing on TypeTastic.  Home Test #2 will be due on Friday, April 24.

Art

Hey Fifth Grade!

Wow, what a crazy time we are in! I am having fun though, I hope you are too. How was your spring break and Easter? It was different this year, at our house, but still great.

Did you try creating the "Texture on ordinary objects" lesson? I would like to see your work if you did. I have enjoyed seeing some of your creativity in pictures and videos. I miss seeing you in person, but we will get through these crazy times and all be together soon!

I created a new art lesson for you. I thought it might be fun to continue a weaving project since we were in the middle of a yarn weaving when the quarantine began. Some of you were able to take your weavings home. I would love to see them if you completed them.

This new weaving project is with patterned paper. You may use paint, markers, crayons, whatever you have at home to create two patterned papers to weave with.

There are four videos to view and it is best if you view them in order. They are named WEAVING (Parts 1.2.3.4) The link is;

...Man, filming videos are SO MUCH more difficult than they seem! Go ahead and laugh with me as I mix up the directional terms of VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL. Gracious sakes! Ha!

Anyway, have fun! Enjoy the process. Please send me pictures of your finished creations!

Miss and love all of you!
